ABOUT TACIT MOVEMENT

At Tacit Movement, we believe that taking care of your body should feel good and empowering.

SATRIA YOGA

The lineage is from the ancient warrior (kysatriya) arts of Indonesia and the surrounding areas of south-east Asia. Layered with universal principles, Satria Yoga carries within it, healing, and promotes well-being for every practitioner. There are three ways to practise Satria Yoga; 'Flow' (Vinyasa principle), 'Strength and Endurance' (Yang principle) and 'Tendon Strength and Flexibility' (Yin principle).

Satria Yoga has 144 postures which flow one to another and each one is a natural and organic movement. This style of yoga is closest to the natural movements of a child developing or playing from the ground, or like mimicking the movements of some animals in particular, Kucing (cat), Harimau (tiger), Kura Kura (turtle), Buaya (crocodile), Ular (snake) and Garuda (mythical bird). Out of these come a more descriptive name to describe another pose, with its base from one of those particular animals.

Other hand gestures, like ‘prayer palms’ offer more of a descriptive gesture in nature, or like ‘male and female’ hands to represent ‘two’ or ‘balance’.  Many of these ‘animal’ postures are also performed from three different heights: high, mid and low.

As the yoga system focus is not outward but purely an inward journey of self-discovery, there is a transformative affect on the body and mind, promoting restorative effects and rehabilitation of injuries as well as being an injury preventative practise. By teaching you how to unite the six forces that exists and learning how to link to a higher state of awareness.

“With over 10 years in personal training and group coaching I understand and encourage good biomechanics, correct alignment and good posture”

Therapies

Physical therapy includes developmental stretches to lengthen muscles, create space in the joints to relax the body and encourage a deeper understanding of breathwork and reuniting body & mind, and therefore bringing the practise to life. This will also heighten levels of concentration and awareness.

No naked business clothes are not optional they are mandatory 90 mins of therapy involves hands on assisted stretches, pressure point release of the hands and feet and cranium. Starting with directing our attention to the breath and where it is residing determines the rhythm of the session. Usually conducted lying down but if seated is more beneficial the therapy can be adapted.

ABOUT ME

Here’s something to really get to know why I do this. In 2012 life was not good I’d lost my family, became distant with friends, and a functional addict at work which by 2015 I got suspended from and eventually moved back to my mums.

I accepted I’d failed in every avenue a adult possibly could! But no matter all the external circumstances I could do nothing about, there was one thing I could not escape, my body, the library of all the pain of failure. Without all the things I worked for my addictions got worse as my perceived purpose became obsolete. But one day a friend steered me to the gym and showed me what it meant to train to failure and recover… I felt a purpose to be purposeful again.

My body became the one thing I could rely on so I returned to it 3 times a day 6 days a week training Calisthenics, bodybuilding and Yoga. My new addiction was training and it was paying off, aesthetically mostly because other addictions had yet to budge but I was coming out of my slump. By 2016 I became a personal trainer and unbeknownst to me start a journey I wouldn’t have believed if somebody told me at the time.

As a newly qualified Personal trainer/Instructor and movement enthusiast I liked to absorb as much as I could from everywhere I could to deliver the best possible sessions. So when another friend of mines said “you have to try this yoga class” arrogantly I accepted, after all I’d been training for over a year and I was pretty good! I went in and was welcomed by the Chief instructor of Satria Yoga a tiny flowerlike lady who so elegantly humbled me into the practice by introducing me to an art like nothing I’d done before.

She soon introduced me to the Satria Fighting Arts where I met her husband the head of Satria Fighting Arts. Here I’d met a husband and wife from the same streets I grew up where I’d learnt to cover my tracks, speak less and become a fighter, to avoid pain but when they spoke to me they were not marred by their pasts and felt like more than just teachers but like friends. I then started to learn about how to train the body not just what to train, the influence of the breath on the mind body connection, stillness and recovery.

With over 10 years in personal training and group coaching I understand and encourage good biomechanics, correct alignment and good posture as its also necessary for injury prevention, but also a decade of practicing what I teach I know that our 24hour cycle reveals to us what we emotionally, mentally and physically require to realign. This natural alignment is how I met my wife and why we have established a tacit movement to encourage others towards their own tacit lifestyle.
